I decided to share a few paintings from an artist I’ve enjoyed lately. Denis Fremond is a French painter known for his somewhat blurred and spatial images. For me, they invoke feelings of solitude, peace, and tranquility. My favorite paintings of his depict a man, walking across the white sand on a blue and lonely beach. I could not find much about the inspiration or motivations behind his work, but The New Observer, a North Carolina-based newspaper, describes his it as “familiar strangeness, an obsession with lost time, a nostalgia for an eternally recomposed happiness.”
